The markets are flooded with various cookware options — from stainless steel to cast iron and non-stick. But there seems to be a new kid on the block, specially designed for people who swear by healthy living . Enter triply cookware that claims to come with three layers that help keep the nutritional value of the food intact. Touted as coatings and chemicals-free, this cookware is also believed to be dishwasher-friendly unlike some of its counterparts. In fact, such is its popularity that many chefs and influencers have been recommending it. So, we decided to seek help from an expert to know whether we should all make the switch. Dr Bhavana P, chief dietitian, Gleneagles Hospital, Hyderabad told that triply diet cookware is made of food-grade two layers of stainless steel (exterior and interior) and one layer of aluminum (in the middle). She added that its stainless steel layers prevent chemical reactions between the food and the cookware , maintaining the food’s nutritional integrity. “This cookware helps distribute heat evenly, reducing the risk of burning and uneven cooking, which can destroy nutrients. This quality also reduces the need for excess oil, which can help maintain a balanced diet. Additionally, triply cookware is durable and often free of harmful coatings that can degrade over time,” said Dr Bhavana. Continuing, she said that it is considered good for health because of the material’s non-leaching properties, besides its property to retain heat. According to the nutritionist, the broader base of such cookware ensures uniform heat, which reduces cooking time and helps conserve gas. However, it’s essential to avoid overheating , “which can cause stainless steel to leach small amounts of nickel and chromium, though generally within safe limits for most people”, noted Dr Bhavana. Having said that, triply diet cookware is often expensive in comparison to single-layer stainless steel or non-stick pans. None
