Silicon Valley Immersion Program wraps up: AICTE, Apna.co announce winners and their upcoming tech adventure

Apna.co, a leading professional networking platform, has announced the successful conclusion of the Silicon Valley Immersion Program (SVIP). Launched in collaboration with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) four months ago, the program wrapped up with its final session on August 12, 2024, at the AICTE headquarters in New Delhi. SVIP is a national-level competition that has completed the program with its winners, Teena Chhatria, Aradhya Pitalwar, Kabir Arora, and Chaitanya Sai Krishna. These students come from XLRI Jamshedpur, WCE Sangli, and PEC Chandigarh. The winners won a fully funded trip to Silicon Valley in the US and a cash prize worth Rs 4 lakhs. The trip will include exclusive interaction with global tech leaders from Google, Apple, and Meta. According to the company, the initiative aimed to connect Indian youth with leading global tech companies, equipping them with the skills necessary to seize international opportunities. It was designed to foster creativity and improve problem-solving abilities among the youth. Prof. (Dr.) T. G. Sitharam, Chairman, AICTE added, “The Silicon Valley Immersion Program aligns with our mission to enhance the quality of technical education in India . This initiative, developed in collaboration with apna.co, exposes our students to cutting-edge practices and the innovative mindset of Silicon Valley. We aim to prepare them not just as job seekers, but as potential job creators and global innovators. Through such programs, we’re taking steps to make our students industry -ready and globally competitive.” SVIP received registrations of 25,000 students from 6,000 colleges across India, constituting 40 per cent of female participants. Any Indian student aged 18 or above with at least a graduation degree or in pursuit was eligible for the program. After completing the selection process, the competition narrowed to 20 national finalists competing in two teams. The first round comprised an online MCQ assessment covering logical reasoning, data interpretation, and critical thinking. The second round was a case study challenge in Marketing , Generative AI, Retail and Commerce, and Software Engineering. The third and final round, Startup Garage, brought participants in front of a judges panel including Nirmit Parikh, Founder and CEO of apna.co, the AICTE Chairman, a senior tech professional from Google, and other industry leaders.
