'Momentum is on our side,' says Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in final US election speech

Democratic candidate and vice president Kamala Harris delivered her final speech in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, just before midnight as the US goes to the presidential election 2024 on Tuesday (Nov. 5). Harris reminded the crowd that the race isn't over yet and every single vote matters. “Philadelphia, you ready to do this? Are we ready to vote? It has been a fight for something,” she said. “Tonight, then we finish as we started—wwith optimism, with energy, with joy,” she added. “I’ve spent my life fighting for people who have been hurt and counted out, but who never stop believing that in our country, anything is possible. I have lived the promise of America, and today, I see the promise of America is everyone who is here. In all of you. We are the promise of America,” she said. “One more day, just one more day in the most consequential election of our lifetime and the momentum is on our side,” Harris said. “The race ain’t over yet and we must finish strong and this could be… one of the closest races in history. Every single vote matters so let me ask you, who here has a plan to vote?,” she said before finishing the speech. According to multiple polls, Harris has a slight lead over Trump heading into the election. Voting began at midnight Eastern Time on Monday in the small New Hampshire town of Dixville Notch, which traditionally opens its polls early.
