In 2020, Wayne County in Michigan voted to not certify results for a brief period of time before going back on it. In 2022, some counties in Arizona, Pennsylvania and New Mexico also tried to not certify the result. This time, however, Michigan is prepared as informed by Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson. “We’ve got great attorneys that we’re working with at the attorney general’s office, who are prepared as well, who were there in 2020 and ready to go,” she said. “It’s more about just making sure we’re able to rapidly respond and are prepared to ensure that the law is followed.” The US election 2020 results ultimately led to protestors storming the Capitol on January 6, 2021 - two months after the election and Trump being voted out of power. Keeping the situation in mind, the stores and businesses in the capital city of Washington D.C. have put up plywood planks in anticipation of another riot if Trump loses. The National Guard is also on standby while the security has been enhanced at major institutions to avoid any mishap this time. (With inputs from agencies) None
