Georgia poll worker arrested for faking bomb threat to frame voter after argument

A Georgia poll worker has been arrested for allegedly fabricating a bomb threat letter, aiming to implicate a voter he had previously argued with. Nicholas Wimbish, aged 25, from Milledgeville, is accused of creating a fake threat to make it appear as though the voter he had an altercation with, was responsible. According to a report by The Mirror US, Wimbish’s arrest occurred on November 4, the eve of the election, with federal authorities involved in the investigation. The Justice Department confirmed that Wimbish, who was working at the Jones County Election Office in Gray last month, had a verbal dispute with a voter. What was in the fake ‘bomb threat’ letter? The day after the argument, Wimbish allegedly wrote a letter posing as a “Jones County Voter” and sent it to the election superintendent. Prosecutors revealed that the letter falsely accused him of “manipulating votes” and “distracting voters,” with an ominous warning included towards the end. The letter, signed by the fictional “voter” Wimbish created, advised him and others to “watch their backs.” Also read: It's a tie for Trump and Harris in Dixville Notch. Here's what a 3-3 split means “I know where they all live because I have access to home voting addresses,” the letter claimed, with Wimbish supposedly forging these words to blame the voter he had clashed with. Court documents noted Wimbish’s statements to authorities, in which he tried to pin the blame on the voter for the invented threat. The typed letter concluded with the message: “PS boom toy in early vote place, cigar burning, be safe,” as cited by prosecutors. Charges filed against the Georgia poll worker Wimbish now faces several charges, including lying to FBI agents, mailing a bomb threat, spreading false information about a bomb, and sending a threatening letter.
