Smriti Mandhana joins Adelaide Strikers for WBBL 10; 19 Indians in player draft

India vice-captain Smriti Mandhana has joined the Adelaide Strikers for the upcoming WBBL-10 season. The Indian opener has appeared in three previous WBBL seasons for the Brisbane Heat, Hobart Hurricanes, and Sydney Thunder (WBBL|07). Earlier this year, Mandhana and coach Luke Williams had powered the Royal Challengers Bengaluru to victory in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024. “I always look forward to playing in Australia, and I’m excited about the opportunity to contribute to a team with a history of success like the Strikers,” Mandhana said. “I’m thrilled to continue working with Luke. Our previous experiences together have been so rewarding, and I’m looking forward to building on that.” In addition to the WPL, Mandhana and Strikers coach Luke Williams have worked together previously at Southern Brave for The Hundred. A total of 19 Indian women cricketers have nominated themselves for the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) draft, slated to take place on Sunday. India captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Deepti Sharma are among the most prominent names nominated for the draft.
