Delhi News Live Updates, July 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today chair the ninth governing council meeting of the NITI Aayog at Rashtrapati Bhavan as the impasse between Opposition-rules Chief Ministers and Centre over allegations of a ‘biased’ Union Budget continues. In light of the stand-off, at least 4 INDIA bloc CMs have decided the boycott the meeting. Who is boycotting the meeting? At least four chief ministers, including three from the Congress, are set to boycott the meeting, including Telangana ’s Revanth Reddy , Karnataka ’s Siddaramaiah , and Himachal Pradesh’s Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu . Tamil Nadu CM M K Stalin will also be absent at the meet. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan too will stay away but state Finance Minister K N Balagopal is set to attend the meeting on Saturday. More about the NITI Aayog meet: This NITI Aayog meeting is slated to focus on “making India a developed nation by 2047” by addressing various development issues and policy matters. The governing council includes all chief ministers, Lieutenant Governors of Union Territories, and several Union Ministers. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said Friday that there was no “coordination” among parties of the INDIA bloc on boycotting the meeting, but asserted that she would be the Opposition’s voice at the meeting. She also added that the government’s apex think tank was “powerless”, and pitched for the Planning Commission’s revival. In Delhi to attend the meeting — the first after the Lok Sabha elections and formation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ’s third government — Banerjee said she learnt about the decision of some INDIA bloc CMs to boycott the meeting from the media.
