Hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi came out in defence of the Agnipath scheme at the 25th anniversary of the Kargil Vijay Divas on Friday, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, late on Friday, announced that his government would give priority to Agniveers in the recruitment of armed police and state reserve police (SRP). CM Patel made the announcement in a tweet from his official account, along with other BJP -ruled states that made similar announcements for Agniveers. In the tweet, Patel stated, , “The misconception being spread by the opposition about the Agnipath scheme and Agniveers are both absurd and condemndable. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi , a lot of reforms are being initiated in Indian Army and internal security. Agnipath is also one such inititiave.” “Because of Agniveer, Indian Army will become youthful. This scheme will prepare such brave youth in the country, who after their service in the army, will make an invaluable contribution in strengthening the security of our country.
