Xiaomi unveils Redmi A4 5G, powered by Snapdragon 4s Gen 2, at IMC; to be priced under Rs 10K

Android smartphone maker Xiaomi, on Wednesday, showcased its latest offering––the Redmi A4 5G––along with Qualcomm Technologies Inc. The device, launched at the ongoing Indian Mobile Congress, is seen as a landmark in entry-level smartphones for Indian consumers, especially bestowing millions with 5G connectivity. The all-new Redmi A4 5G is India’s first smartphone powered by Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 Mobile Platform. While the launch dates are yet to be announced, the new device will be priced under Rs 10,000. The device will make 5G accessible to a wider audience and is seen as an extension of Xiaomi ’s commitment to “Innovation for everyone”. The Redmi A4 is the latest entrant in Xiaomi’s A series phones aimed at first-time smartphone users. Talking about the device, Muralikrishnan B, president of Xiaomi India, said, “The Redmi A4 5G marks a significant milestone in our ongoing mission to bring advanced technology to every Indian. Designed exclusively for the Indian market, it embodies our vision of ‘5G for Everyone’, bridging the digital divide.” The Xiaomi executive also said that with this device, the company aims to accelerate India’s transition to 5G by delivering an enhanced entry-level smartphone experience. “With India’s rapid adoption of 5G, we are proud to drive this transformation. Looking ahead, 5G will be the cornerstone in our vision to sell 70 crore devices in the next decade, continuing to redefine connectivity for all.” The phone has enhanced CPU performance for seamless multitasking and productivity, and comes with AI-driven audio and optimised entertainment experiences such as smooth gaming, and high-quality video streaming. Xiaomi claims that the device has been engineered for performance. Xiaomi and Qualcomm Technologies have joined hands to make gigabit-fast connectivity a reality for millions of Indian consumers. “Access to 5G will be a key factor towards Viksit Bharat. The Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 was designed with a vision to enable consumers to enjoy the benefits of 5G connectivity.
