Former One Direction singer Liam Payne died on Thursday after falling from the third floor of his hotel in Buenos Aires. The 31-year-old was reportedly found in the hotel’s interior patio. Liam rose to fame as part of the now-disbanded pop group One Direction, alongside Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson, after they finished third on the British version of the X Factor music competition show in 2010. Despite the group having split in 2016, Liam’s last Instagram post was a photo with his former band members, shared 20 weeks ago. The photo was shared as a tribute to the late filmmaker-producer, Morgan Spurlock. The singer wrote in his caption: “Rest in peace Morgan Spurlock it was a pleasure working with you,” followed by a heart emoji. Singer Charlie Puth, who co-wrote Liam’s 2017 single “Bedroom Floor,” took to his Instagram Stories to express his grief. He wrote: “I am in shock right now. Liam was always so kind to me. He was one of the first major artists I got to work with. I cannot believe he is gone.” Puth also shared a throwback picture with the singer without any caption. Hours before his death, Liam had shared a video on his Snapchat account, in which he said that he was having a “lovely day”. The video showed Liam sitting at a dining table, and talking to the camera. He could be heard saying, “Such a lovely day here in Argentina. He captioned the picture: “Happy I got some time away.” Liam Payne faced several controversies throughout his career, which led to criticism, and being “cancelled” by his fans. He recently made headlines when he visited Argentina to support his former One Direction bandmate, Niall Horan. However, his arrival was not well received, and many criticised him for appearing to “seek attention” instead of genuinely supporting Horan.
