Google Gemini may soon get new image resizing feature

Google Gemini, the company’s answer to OpenAI’s ChatGPT recently announced that it updated the AI chatbot’s Imagen 3, the company’s newest text-to-image large language model. While Gemini is already good at generating images from scratch, they always come out square. However, a recent report by Android Authority suggests that Gemini may soon allow users to generate images in their preferred resolution. During a teardown of Gemini version 15.41.34.29 beta of the Google app, the publication was able to activate an under-development feature that allowed them to resize the images generated by Gemini in aspect ratios like 16:9, 4:3 and 3:4, which is really useful if you wanted to set an AI-generated image as a wallpaper or post it on social media. As it turns out, Gemini does not crop the output image but instead goes back to the originally generated photo and adds more details to it. Similar to Adobe’s Generative Fill feature, the chatbot will also be able to shrink down the subject and fill in the blanks around it. Google was recently spotted testing a new Gemini feature that allows users to select an area of the generated image and edit it with ease. This, combined with the upcoming feature might allow users to use Gemini as an image editing tool. However, it is still uncertain if and when the new aspect ratio options will go live, so you might have to wait a while before being able to set AI-generated images as wallpapers. Last month, Google started rolling out Gemini Live for all users , which, similar to ChatGPT’s advanced voice mode enables users to engage in a conversation with the AI powered chatbot. None
