BOLLYWOOD Sister of Tabu, Farah Naaz divorced Vindu Dara Singh and later married Sumeet Saigal. She worked with superstars in her short Bollywood career. Aman Wadhwa Updated : Dec 24, 2024, 07:20 AM IST | Edited by : Aman Wadhwa Born in a Hyderabadi Muslim family on December 9, 1968, Farah Naaz is the elder sister of Tabu and niece of the legendary actress Shabana Azmi. When she was just 17, Farah made her acting debut in Yash Chopra's Faasle, that bombed at the box office in 1985. In the following years, she starred opposite famous heroes Rajesh Khanna, Dharmendra, Rishi Kapoor, Vinod Khanna, Mithun Chakraborty, Sanjay Dutt, Anil Kapoor, Sunny Deol, Govinda, and Aamir Khan in hit films such as Imaandaar, Marte Dam Tak, Who Phir Aayegi, Yateem, Baap Numbri Beta Dus Numbri, Begunaah, Sautela Bhai, Pati Patni Aur Tawaif, Khuda Gawah, Amar Prem. In 1988 in an interview with Filmfare magazine, Farah shared that she had slit her wrist twice whenever she found herself in an argument with her family members. Sharing why she did it, the actress stated, "I am not doing this to kill myself. No one dies by cutting their wrists. I know my family won't let me die. But it's like whenever my mom or my sister says something to me that I can't stand, I do it. Trust me I have no idea what I'm doing or where I'm getting the blade from. And it doesn't hurt as much when I cut my vein. Actually by doing this, I diverted my attention from the problem that was bothering me so much. This is my way of annoying them. They won't know if I kill myself, but whenever they see my wounds like this, they will know that they hurt me." Two controversial incidents runied Farah's career in the Hindi film industry. One was when she was working with Chunky Panday in the 1989 film Kasam Vardi Ki, the latter shared a joke with her and she got so furious that she slapped him. In the same year, when her film Rakhwala with Anil Kapoor flopped at the box office, the latter stated that the film would have worked if Madhuri would have been heroine in the film. This irked Farah and she threated Kapoor. In 1996, Farah tied the knot with Dara Singh's son Vindu Dara Singh, and they welcomed their son Fateh Randhawa a year later. After six years of their marriage, the two parted ways and in the same years, Farah married another actor, Sumeet Saigal. It was Sumeet's second marriage too as he was previous married to Shaheen Banu and had a daughter Sayyeshaa with her. Farah and Sumeet decided not to have any children together. None
