When Liam Payne called his band One Direction a 'little bit toxic'

Liam Payne’s sudden death has sent shockwaves among his fans and peers. The 31-year-old star was known and loved by many of his musician friends. Liam died after he fell from the balcony of a building. He died on October 16. As we remember the singer , we look back at the time when the former One Direction member regretted saying some unpleasant things about his famous boy band. In a June 2022 interview with Logan Paul on the Impaulsive podcast, Liam Payne criticized his former bandmates Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson. Later in hindsight in 2023, he backtracked and said in a lengthy Youtube video that he had spent 100 days in rehab and he was frustrated at the time when he passed these rude comments. He said, "My own frustrations with my own career and where I kind of landed, I took shots at everybody else which is wrong. So obviously, I want to apologise for that because that’s definitely not me." He continued, "When I needed them most they kind of came to my rescue.” Earlier, in June 2019 interview, Liam Payne said when he wasn’t getting anywhere with his career, he used alcohol to cope with it. He added that while he was grateful for his bandmates, there were moments of toxicity. "It's almost like putting the Disney costume on before you step up on stage and underneath the Disney costume I was pissed quite a lot of the time because there was no other way to get your head around what was going on,” he said at the time. He added, “I mean, it was fun. We had an absolute blast, but there were certain parts of it where it just got a little bit toxic."
