Arizona US Election Results 2024: US Vice-President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are set for a pivotal election showdown, likely to be one of the closest contests in modern American history. With time ticking down, a handful of crucial states will shape the 2024 race. As laid out in the US Constitution, each of the 50 states holds its own vote for president, and it’s these results that determine the winner. Let’s take a closer look at the battle for Arizona and the issues defining the Harris vs Trump contest in this key state: 📌 Among the seven swing states, Arizona will be one of the most closely watched. In 2020, Joe Biden narrowly won here by just 10,457 votes, marking a departure from Arizona’s Republican-leaning record since 1996. 📌 Trump hopes that dissatisfaction with the Biden-Harris administration’s immigration policy will help swing Arizona, which shares a border with Mexico, back to his favour. Harris visited Arizona’s border in September, pledging to address migration issues and revive last year’s bipartisan border bill, which she said Trump had “blocked” for political gain. 📌 Abortion remains another pressing issue in Arizona, which carries 11 electoral votes. Polls show a tight race here, with Trump and Harris running neck-and-neck , with Trump holding a slight lead. 📌 Trump currently leads Harris by 2.2 points — 48.9 per cent to 46.7 per cent — according to an average compiled by FiveThirtyEight, an election analysis site. Similarly, Nate Silver, a prominent pollster, reports Trump with a 2.4-point edge — 49.3 per cent to 46.9 per cent. Though slight, Trump’s lead in Arizona is among the largest in any swing state. 📌 Other close contests include the US Senate race, where Democrat Ruben Gallego and Republican Kari Lake are vying to replace outgoing independent Senator Kyrsten Sinema, as well as two Republican-held US House seats in Phoenix and Tucson areas that both went for Biden in 2020. 📌 Maricopa County is the most influential of the state’s 15 counties in state-wide elections. It includes Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, and Mesa, and accounted for nearly 62 per cent of votes in the 2020 presidential race. Pima County followed with around 15 per cent of the vote. 📌 Arizona will not release any results until all precincts have reported or one hour after polls close, whichever comes first.
