Son Of Sardaar director Ashwini Dhir’s 18-year-old son Jalaj Dhir dies as joyride turns tragic, friend arrested

Son of Sardaar director Ashwini Dhir’s 18-year-old son Jalaj Dhir died in a tragic car accident on November 23 at Vile Parle, Mumbai. As per reports, Jalaj had invited his friends over to play video games at his home in Goregaon. Later, he and his three other friends — Sahil Mendha (18), Sarth Kaushik (18), and Jedan Jimmy(18) — went on a drive. After stopping at a restaurant, they were driving back when Sahil, who was at the wheel, lost control of the car and the vehicle slammed into the divider at Western Express Highway. The car was being driven at a high speed by Sahil who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. When their car reached Sahara Star Hotel, Sahil was confused between taking the flyover to go to Goregaon or taking the service road. In this confusion, he first took a left turn and then swerved to go right. In this manoeuvre, he lost control over wheels and eventually rammed into the pole of the divider on the highway, Jedan said in his complaint. Jalaj Dhir was a BBA student and was supposed to attend IFFI in Goa with his father whose new film Hisaab Barabar is being premiered. Jalaj’s funeral took place on 24th November at their home in Goregaon, a prayer meeting was conducted yesterday where producer JD Majethia, Rajesh Kumar, and several other prominent personalities were seen in attendance. Ashwni has directed films such as Suniel Shetty-Tushar Kapoor-starrer One Two Three (2008), Ajay Devgn’s Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge (2010) and Son Of Sardaar (2012) and Guest iin London (2017). TV shows such as Neeli Chatri Waale, Har Shaakh Pe Ullu Baithaa Hai, Lapataganj and Chidiya Ghar ahve also been produced by him.
