The much-anticipated Diwali box office clash between Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again has indeed lived up to its hype. Both films performed well over their opening weekend, each carving out its own space at the box office. However, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 producer Bhushan Kumar recently shared that efforts were made to avoid this showdown. According to Kumar, the makers of both films even held a discussion to find a solution, but due to pre-existing commitments and creative constraints, the clash ultimately couldn’t be avoided. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, he explained, “A franchise holds a lot of value, and we were both aware of that. It’s not that we didn’t try to avoid the clash, but we each had certain commitments that made it difficult. For instance, there are pre-commitments with OTT platforms, and they don’t allow rescheduling. We had that majboori , and they had a similar situation.” Bhushan further explained that creative considerations led Singham Again to stick to a Diwali release. “Also, they had a creative compulsion. The theme of the film was Ramayan so they definitely wanted to come on Diwali. So, we both didn’t have a choice. Though we met and discussed whether we could avoid the clash, we both tried but due to these conditions we couldn’t avoid the clash. Now, the loss that a clash brings, we both have to bear that but I am happy that both the films are working well.” Bhushan acknowledged that the downside of a clash is the distribution of business, especially during a festival season. However, he added that the strong opening weekend of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 has made the film safe. It’s worth noting that the makers of both films were also involved in a tussle over screen allocation . Bhushan Kumar’s production house, T-Series, raised concerns about what they deemed unfair practices by the team behind Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again regarding seat distribution in theatres. They had approached Competition Commission of India (CCI) and demanded a 50-50 percent split of screens. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 Box Office Collection Released on Friday alongside Singham Again, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 took advantage of the Diwali holiday, earning Rs 36.6 crore on its opening day. The film saw an increase in collections over the weekend, bringing in Rs 38.4 crore on Saturday and Rs 35.2 crore on Sunday. However, it experienced a 50 percent dip on Monday, collecting Rs 19.2 crore. This brought its total domestic collection to Rs 129.4 crore in India. Singham Again Box Office Collection Singham Again opened ahead of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, grossing Rs 43.5 crore on Friday. However, it faced a steady decline in collections, earning Rs 42.5 crore on Saturday and Rs 35.75 crore on Sunday. Like Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, it also saw a 50 percent drop on Monday, collecting Rs 18 crore. The film’s total domestic collection to date stands at Rs 139.75 crore.
