PM Internship Scheme portal sees 594,000 registrations in 5 days

The PM Internship Scheme portal has received 594,000 registrations in the five days since its launch on October 12, according to the ministry of corporate affairs (MCA). A total of 1,10,504 internship opportunities have been posted by 254 companies as on Wednesday, official data showed. With candidate registrations touching 594,000, the companies will have multiple options to choose from since the pilot phase of the scheme is targeting to provide 125,000 internship opportunities in FY25. Over five years, the scheme envisages providing 10 million internship opportunities to the youth in the 21-24 years age bracket across top 500 companies. So far, several companies such as Reliance Industries , Jubilant FoodWorks , Eicher Motors , Larsen & Toubro, and Muthoot Finance have posted opportunities on the portal. The scheme allows for participating companies to engage with their forward and backward supply chains (such as suppliers or customers) or other group companies to offer internship opportunities. Under the scheme, a candidate will get a monthly stipend of Rs 4,500 from the government and an extra Rs 500 from the company as part of its corporate social responsibility spending.
